A significant leader in the bluegrass world, WEBCO Records has released
the second in its series of albums that have never before been released
on CD.
Originally recorded in Falls Church, Virginia in 1988, this WEBCO
classic is James King at his best. One of the strongest and best traditionalists
in bluegrass music today, King is inspiring and enjoyable throughout
this album and includes some handy pickin' and fiddlin' by the best
in the business, including Bill Emerson on banjo.
You'll find some notable writers here too. King covers Buck Owens';
"Sweethearts In Heaven,"; Jimmy Martins'; "She's Left Me Again," the
Carter Stanley penned "You're Still To Blame," and Pete Kuykendalls'
"I Am Weary." King also contributes mightlly with three tunes including
the classic title cut "It's A Cold Cold World."
While you can look forward to some lofty bluegrass
names in future WEBCO Classics releases, James King's It's A Cold
Cold World probably best defines the tradition that is bluegrass.
