Drawing from a repertoire of authors as diverse as Mel Tillis, Jean
Ritchie and original compositions from each group member, The New
Coon Creek Girls showcase inherent talent with sharp, driving instrumentation
on this album.
Pickin', fiddlin, and harmonizin' their way through the 15 cuts
included on this album, The New Coon Creek Girls have captured the
heart of bluegrass and stand poised to lead the next generation of
fans into the next millennium.
Reverance for the genre is rampant thorughout this disc, and most
evident in the title cut. This portrayal of present-day development
in the Appalachian coal fields is indicative of the imagery and subject
matter contained on the album.
The a cappella "Brand New Home" and "Hammer & Nails" evoke visions
of mountain church revivals, while the instrumental "Possum Kingdom"
will have you drying the fresh mountain dew from between your toes.
The final cut on the album, "Burning Love," is a heady cover of the
classic Elvis tune.
The L&N Don't Stop Here Anymore is a captivating collection
of songs that highlights the skill and artistry of The New Coon Creek
Girls. The album's only fault is that it ends.
