Lee Ann Womack
Some Things I Know
Giant Records

Lee Ann Womack is a breath of fresh air in the country music world. Her critcally acclaimed debut album announced her arrival on the Nashville music scene and her sophomore release Some Things I Know solidifies her position as one of the top new up and coming artists.
Some Things I Know compiles an excellent array of traditional style country songs and not just traditional in their sound, but in context of their lyrics as well. How refreshing it is!
Two of the eleven tunes on this album bear Womack's name in the credits. Quite possibly the best song here is one that Womack co-wrote with Billy Lawson and Dale Dodson called "The Man Who Made My Mama Cry," a tune of a child's rejection of her absent father who comes back into her life and she can only think of him as 'the man that made my momma cry' and she doesn't 'have the time to waste on (him) catching.'
Vince Gill guests on two selections, the title cut and the Jamie O'Hara penned "I Keep Forgetting" and Joe Diffie chimes in on the Bobby Braddock tune "I'd Rather Have What We Had."
"I'll Think Of A Reason Later" is very reminiscent of the feisty woman songs that were trademarks of Loretta and Tammy. "If You're Ever Down In Dallas," a fast paced tune, and "When The Wheels Are Coming Off," a slow dancer, are fine examples of Womack's versatility and her connection with the past.  A remarkable artist and songwriter, Womack is on the leading edge of new country artists.
