The Wilkinson's Nothing But Love Giant Records |
Good harmonies may be in the voice box, but great harmony is in
the blood. Evidence this - Brooks and Dunn - good harmony, the Everly
Brothers - Great harmony; The Mavericks - good, the Judds - Great;
Foster and Lloyd - good, The Wiggins - Great. There is just something
in the genes that draws vocals together for a tighter more "harmonious"
sound and The Wilkinson's are the proof. Throughout thier debut album
Nothing But Love, this brother, sister, father trio repeatedly
make an impressive case for the beauty of familial harmonies. Great
though the harmonies may be it is the positive simple life experience
that permeates this album. Steve (the father in the trio) co-wrote
seven of the eleven cuts including one ("Boy Oh Boy") with daughter
Amanda. Each of the three takes a turn at lead vocals, but clearly
it is Amanda who stands out, especially on the debut single "26cents"
which announced with triumph the arrival of the trio. Tylers mature
vocals breathe life into "The Word" while Steve throws his lead into
the mix on other cuts. -Charlton Wiggins |
